Auto Strokes Gained is our new Pro feature which leverages your tracked shots in order to provide you with detailed statistics for improvement.
**For the best and most efficient experience we recommend using Auto Shot Tracking and your Apple Watch to capture data for these statistics! But dont worry, if you dont have a watch you can also track the below information manually on your iPhone!
To capture Strokes gained data you must have each shot tracked and enter a few data points as follows:
- Shot Tracking
Go to Settings > Apple Watch > Turn on Auto Shot Tracking.

You can also track shots manually on your phone or watch. Each shot from your round must be tracked in order for the system to calculate your Strokes Gained.
2. Start a Round with AST turned on and your Apple Watch!
3. Pin Location
Make sure to 'Set the Pin' on every hole from your iPhone, or by tapping on the 'Set Pin' button on the Apple Watch while you are on the Green.
4. Putt Distances
On the iPhone or Apple Watch Score Screen, swipe left to enter the distances of your Putts.
5. Review Tracked Shots
After your round, review your Tracked Shots to fix any errors, then mark the round as 'Reviewed for Strokes Gained'.
After playing a round with these steps. your Strokes Gained stats should now be shown under the Statistics section of the app!

How do I keep Auto Shot Tracking on but stop my watch from asking me for pin positions and putt distances?
I'd like more insight on what a "pro" is. On the tour, shots gained is relative to the field. It's been challenging for me to fully utilize this data. I've had rounds where I've felt I drove it really well previous to another round and more shots gained went down. Vice versa I've had rounds I thought my approach game wasn't great and gained more shots. Maybe I'm just not that smart.
You need a strokes gained for amateurs that is based on par and not the field. This would also take in the tees you play from. Comparing amateurs to pros doesn't help us judge our game and where we need to improve. it would be relative to the tee you play from and the stokes would be lost or gained according to par. Parring a hole and finding out you lost .2 strokes is really dumb for the average golfer who just wants to know how they played that day.
