Yes, you can use your Apple Watch during a round independent from your phone. Go into settings > GPS, Scoring, Caddie > turn Use Watch GPS to ON. The phone app is needed at the beginning of the round to set up the round details. Once the round is started on your watch, you're all set!
There are differences in experience between using the watch independently from the phone and in connection. Keeping the Watch and iPhone connected during your round provides better battery, performance, and overall reliability of accurate and up to date distances. We recommend keeping your iPhone with you during the round to maximize Golfshot’s capabilities with Apple Watch that include:
- More accurate GPS Readings
- Faster GPS Updates
- Less Battery Stress on your Apple Watch
Should you still choose to manually disconnect your Apple Watch and iPhone during a round, please be aware that this may cause a less than optimal experience with Apple Watch.
